woodless pencil-graphite stick

charcoal sticks

12” ruler

 (18” or more) straight edge


Painting

paper and supports

pad 140 lb cold pressed (for practice) 9 x 12 or 11 x 14 inches is a good start

a pad is either glued on one side or spiral bound. Get four clips to hold the loose sides together

block 140 lb cold pressed or hot pressed (for painting)

interesting for the future-prepared masonite (Aquabord)


Brushes

round pointed - medium to large

medium flat 

mop

small pointed


Paint      start with tubes

tubes-primary colors (lemon yellow, primary red, light (cerulian) blue, dark (ultramarine) blue)


earth colors - raw or burnt umber, sienna  


other equipment

plastic palette

white paper plates (cheap disposable palette)

two large (pint or bigger) water containers

small cloth towel

roll of paper towels

small round sponge

sea sponges

small spreay bottle
